I used to work as a rape crisis counselor – you really can’t begin to estimate the psychological damage that’s inflicted by rape.
For October’s Domestic Violence Month, I want to share this video that I found. Rape and sexual assault cause deep wounds to the victims as they experience a violence that destroys part of them. It steals their innocence and instills fear.

SA – Indeed. I remember having a mini nervous breakdown in my co-worker’s office one day, raving, “A rape occurs somewhere in the U.S. every two minutes – there are 4 or 5 rapes every day just in this city. I can’t keep up! I have no feckin’ hope of keeping up! I need somebody to hit the damn ‘Pause’ button, or at least slow it the hell down.”

I can totally understand this break down. When we carry the burdens of others on our shoulders like this, it will become overwhelming. When I first started this blog and read all about the rapes and all the horrible things that are happening around the world, my heart would just break and I would cry for them all… and I was not in direct contact with them. All that I could do was pray for each one and lift them up to the Lord to heal and comfort them. I really wish that we could hit a “pause button”… and maybe we can add that to our prayers. If only for a day, no one would get raped.
You sound like you have a very caring heart. I pray for you and all the counselors and victims, that God will give them strength, healing and the Peace that surpasses all understanding. We don’t understand why bad things happen… but we know who is the Key to overcoming it all. God bless you!!
